I've been waiting all year…when does NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS start?
This year's house runs from September 24 through November 6, 2010. Performance days and times vary. Click here for the schedule.
Is it scary?
Yes. This isn’t a theme park ride. The whole purpose is to scare you. We have worked long and hard to created the most horrifying experience possible. Get ready for your adrenaline fix.
What is it, anyway?
NIGHTMARE: SUPERSITIONS is a classic walk-through haunted house. It is an immersive experience: You and a group of 12 to 15 people will go through the haunted house together. It will be dark sometimes. Things will happen to you. You'll probably leave screaming.
When is it playing?
We are open from Friday, September 24 through Sunday, November 6, 2010.
Can I wear a Halloween costume?
Yes, but masks, props and costumes that extend the body ARE NOT permitted in NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS! It's not safe and it makes it hard for everyone to have a good and scary experience.
Where is it?
NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS is at NOHO Event Center, 623 Broadway at Houston (enter on Mercer Street). Click here for more information.
How do I get there?
Will I be touched?
No one is going to grab you. All contact will be incidental and non-confrontational.
Is this appropriate for children?
NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS is oriented for adults; it is not a kid-style haunted house! Only you know how bold your children are, but no one under twelve (12) will be admitted without a parent or guardian; children under 12 are strongly cautioned. NO CHILDREN UNDER 7 WILL BE ADMITTED! It is actually designed to scare the more fearless adult—it’s VERY SCARY. Parents know what their kids can handle, but if we feel that an adult is forcing a kid to go in against their will, we’ll intervene. Remember, there are no refunds. No children under 7 will be admitted, no matter what!
Is there a dress code?
The experience is somewhat physically challenging– There is uneven footing, it’s very dark, there are lots of twists and turns. Don’t wear high heels or skimpy sandals or gigantic platform shoes or clothes that keep you from moving freely. It’s a crowded environment and people are scared, which means they get a little sweaty, so its a lot better if you don’t wear your white cashmere sweater or your brand-new white jeans. Your shoes may get stepped on and your clothes might get mussed. Please wear appropriate clothing– and shoes!
Is there a long wait?
Not if you buy a line-busting VIP HAUNT ticket, which lets you skip the line. Otherwise, tickets are sold in thirty-minute time slots. For instance, if you buy a ticket for the 7:00PM time slot, you will enter the house between 7:00PM and 7:30PM. Please arrive fifteen minutes before your scheduled entrance time. A limited number of VIP HAUNT tickets will be available at the box office. Once those are gone, no more tickets will be sold for that day. NEW this year: The Super VIP for $100, which gets you to the front of the line, a Good Luck Bag, a t-shirt, two drinks and a backstage tour with the director after you walk through the event.
Will I be able to leave the haunted house if it is too scary?
Yes, but there are no refunds.
I bought a ticket in advance, but can’t make it. May I get a refund or switch my ticket to a different time or different day?
Sorry. There are no refunds or exchanges.
Can my group get a special ticket price?
Yes! It's WAY more fun with your friends. Groups of 10+ pay just $25. Student Groups of 10+ pay only $15. VIP Groups of 10+ pay $45. Call 212-929-2963 for more information and to book today.Click here for more info.
Is this handicapped accessible?
Yes! There is a staircase that links the two gruesome levels of NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS, BUT an elevator is available if you need it. (Don't worry we'll still scare the—well, you know—right out of you.) There are also elevators available for both entry and exit from the venue.
Are there stairs?
Yes, you may need to climb stairs to enter and exit the venue. There is also a staircase that that links the two gruesome levels of NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS, so wear sensible shoes, would you?
Are there any other limitations that I should be aware of before I buy a ticket?
Yes. The house is not recommended for people with back or heart problems, pregnant women, those prone to seizures, anyone with an affliction exacerbated by anxiety or fear, or those with mobility problems. Further, there are enclosed spaces and minimal climbing may be necessary during part of the tour. You should also know that STROBE LIGHTS are used in the haunted house. There is fog. It’s also dark in there, just so you know. There are loud noises, too. It’s supposed to SCARE you—it’s a haunted house! Finally, management has the right to refuse entrance and to eject persons who touch the actors, are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or who are unruly or violent. No refunds or exchanges will be given.
Anything else I should know?
Yes. NIGHTMARE: SUPERSTITIONS is an interactive experience. You will be walking through the haunted house, there is uneven footing and varying ceiling heights in some areas, so wear sensible shoes. There is no coat check.
How many people can go on a tour together?
12 to 15, but no more than 15. Seriously.
If you're sold out both online and at the door, is there any chance of getting in?
We do our best to get as many people in as possible without compromising the quality of the experience. We'll get you in as long as space and time allow, and if you don't mind waiting for a bit.
How long does it take to go through?
That depends on when you can’t take it anymore. About 25-35 minutes depending on how paralyzed with fear you become.
Is there a place to buy a drink or a snack at the venue?
Yes.
Is there a coat check?
No.
Can I buy a T-shirt or other merchandise?
Yes! We have T-shirts and lots of other Nightmare stuff, but bring CASH. The kiosk doesn’t take credit or debit cards.
Can I use my credit card at the box office?
Yes.
I bought and printed my ticket in advance. Do I need to visit the box office?
No! As soon as your entire party is ready to enter, you can get right in line!
